Sometimes we view the Bible from our 21st-Century viewpoint. I think it’s important to read the Scriptures for what they truly say without that filter. Are there metaphors and similes in the Bible? Yes. Are there phrases and figures of speech? Of course. But in every case, what is written has meaning. Even those metaphors are meant to represent something concrete.
We also have to realize that if we take the Bible seriously, we must understand that the Holy Spirit directed every word of Scripture. Marinate on this truth that everything written, comes from the Holy Spirit, and not man.
I’m going to “level” with you. I think the mainstream view of our cosmology is “flat-out” wrong…!
The Firmament…?
“And Yahuah said, Let there be a FIRMAMENT in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And Yahuah made the FIRMAMENT, and divided the waters which were under the FIRMAMENT from the waters which were above the FIRMAMENT: and it was so. And Yahuah called the FIRMAMENT Heaven.” – Genesis 1:6-8
What is this firmament? According to the Scriptures, it is a solid structure that divides the waters from the waters. You can even look this up on the secular website, Wikipedia, and the word firmament is described as a vast solid dome created by God during the creation (LINK). And what is this word in other translations?
- Latin – firmamentum (a firm object)
- Greek – stereoma (a solid structure)
- Hebrew – raqia (a solid structure that is beaten out and formed)
The definitions in the Latin, Greek, and Hebrew emphasize Yahuah as the creator of the universe who built a solid structure called the firmament, and these definitions give meaning to the following verses:
“The heavens declare the glory of Yahuah, and the FIRMAMENT shows His handywork.” – Psalms 19:1
“Can you, like Him, SPREAD OUT the skies, HARD as a cast metal mirror?” – Job 37:18
“I have made the earth, and created man on it. I, My hands have STRETCHED OUT the heavens, and all their host I have commanded.” – Isaiah 45:12
“Praise Him, heavens of heavens, and you waters ABOVE the heavens!” – Psalms 148:4
There is water “above” the heavens? According to Scripture, yes! And it takes a firm structure (firmament) to hold the water back, according to David.
The Sun Moves, Not the Earth…?
We’ve been taught by modern science that the earth rotates around the sun. But the Scriptures speak otherwise. According to Scripture, it is the sun that traverses the earth. And when you read these, remember that the writers were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
“The sun also rises, and the sun sets, and hurries back to the place where it arose.” – Ecclesiastes 1:4
“In them He set up a tent for the sun. and it is like a bridegroom coming out of his room. It rejoices like a strong man to run the path. Its rising is from one end of the heavens, and its circuit to the other end.” – Psalms 19:4-6
Scripture makes the claim for a moving sun. It stops moving on several occasions in the Bible (Isaiah 60:20, Joshua 10:12-14, Habakkuk 3:11). And it even moves backwards in 2 Kings 20:8-11.
The Moon has its Own Light…?
The light from the moon, according to science, is a reflection from the sun. But the Bible says otherwise:
“And Elohim made two great lights: the GREATER LIGHT to rule the day, and the LESSER LIGHT to rule the night, and the stars.” – Genesis 1:16
“For the stars of the heavens and their constellations do not give off their light. The sun shall be dark at its rising, and the moon not send out ITS LIGHT.” – Isaiah 13:10
Notice that Yahuah made the sun, moon, AND the stars? The sun is not a star, like we are told.
The Stars Will Fall to Earth…?
According to Yahusha (Jesus), Peter, John, and Isaiah, the stars will all fall to the earth! If those massive fireballs (as explained by modern science) fall to the earth, we are in a load of trouble. But if the stars are smaller lights that the Father put in the firmament (as explained by the Bible), then it makes sense.
“And immediately after the distress of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the STARS SHALL FALL from the heaven…” Matthew 24:29
“And the heavens shall be ROLLED UP like a scroll…” Isaiah 34:4 (The firmament rolling up?)
“And the stars of the heaven FELL TO THE EARTH as a fig tree drops its unripe figs, being shaken by a strong wind.” – Revelation 6:13
In whom do you place your trust? In modern science that says we evolved from apes? In a belief system that says we live on a spinning ball that is billions of years old and only a tiny speck in a massive universe? In NASA and other “space agencies” that give us contrasting “photos” over the years? Agencies that provide time-lapse videos with stationary clouds and changing curvatures?

If you are a serious Christian, you already disagree with the form of Biology they present. You also disagree with Geology claims. Many of us have issues with these “ologies” that present themselves as factual science. Let’s add another “science falsely so-called” (1 Timothy 6:20) to the list…Cosmology!
